Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to hear what she has to say:

Since 2010, San Diego sleep training expert Jen Varela has helped more than 400 sleep-deprived families with private one-on-one sleep coaching. She focuses on the achievement of each family’s sleep goals whether in co-sleeping environments, room sharing or separate rooms. Jen’s experience ranges from helping families with infants in sleep shaping skills to families with toddlers who are transitioning them to their own room for the first time all while keeping tears to a minimum.

Jen Varela is a mother of two children. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Services with an emphasis in Counseling from California State University Fullerton, California. She is a member of the International Association of Child Sleep Consultants, a Certified Gentle Sleep Coach® trained by Kim West – The Sleep Lady® and co-author of Loved to Sleep”.

In 2003, Jen Varela’s very alert baby boy was born. She entered “the toughest graduate program” of her life. Jen’s son came into this world with an I don’t want to miss a thing temperament. Helping him learn how to self-sooth to sleep became a noteworthy achievement for Jen and a welcome respite to her own tired sleep schedule.

At the time, the cry-it-out method was prevalent – even among her community of mothers. Jen knew she wanted to do it differently. Before her son turned one, Jen was pregnant with her daughter. Good sleep habits became essential, especially since her son and daughter would be sharing a room. But, her children were very different sleepers. Jen had to really “study her children” to learn how to help them develop good sleep habits individually. This on-the-job training is the foundation of how Jen approaches her sleep consulting. (P.S. Don’t miss the bonus offer below!)

Jen’s Core Values:

Solutions: Provide solutions that bring hope.
Tired families need encouragement – without judgment. Families do not sleep the same. Provide solutions that align with the parents’ goals, parenting style and sleeping arrangements – including co-sleeping/bed sharing, room sharing and separate rooms.

Strategies: Work with the child’s temperament.
Encourage parents to study their child to learn their cues and behaviors. Teach parents strategies for communication – verbal and nonverbal. Help them choose the right sleep coaching or sleep shaping method for their baby.

Science: Promote and preserve healthy sleep habits.
Be creative, flexible and proactive. Use sleep science to support mother’s intuition. Move at a gentle pace for both the child and the parent. Keep tears to a minimum while allowing the child to do some of the work.
