White Noise for Newborns
White noise is such a wonderful tool to help dampen outside noise. Your baby spent months in your belly listening to your heartbeat and the sounds surrounding you, so it stands to reason that sleeping in a quiet room would be disconcerting.
Our favorite white noise machine is the Marpac Dohm. It uses a real fan to produce natural white noise.

Security Blanket for Babies at 6 Months
Once your baby has good head control and can roll and push toys, you may want to consider introducing a lovey — sometimes called an attachment object. A good lovey has to be safe, and can help to enhance your baby’s sleep.
To look for a safe lovey, look for a breathable blanket or a small stuffed animal. You want to make sure that there are not loose buttons, or potential choking hazards that your baby could accidentally remove. We like these by Aden & Anais. They come two to a set: one for the washer, one to love!

Walking Toy for Toddlers
This one isn’t really about sleep. However, wearing that toddler out all day will make him sleep better! If you haven’t already, consider a push toy like this one that can help to encourage your baby to walk and move as much as possible. We like the Brio Toddler Wobbler.
Most sleep disruptions occur because your baby is working hard to master a new skill, and at this age, pulling up and walking are on their mind. Letting him finish learning in the daytime — instead of the crib — is his key to a good night’s sleep.

Soothing Nightlight for Two-Year-Olds
Some children begin to develop a fear of the dark early on, and you can help to combat this with a fun and soothing nightlight that also doubles as a lovey.
If your child has trouble falling asleep, consider something like the cordless, soft, Cloud B Turtle. The rechargeable turtle shines lights on the ceiling, and makes soothing musical and nature sounds to lull your little one to sleep.

Wake-Up Clock for the “Big Bed” Preschooler
Once you transition your child into their “big kid” bed, you may notice that you encounter some naptime resistance and early rising. Changes to the sleep routine often shake things up, but you can help to dissuade these potential sleep challenges with a wake-up clock.
A good wake up clock will allow you to control bedtime, waking, and naps. The Ooly is a high-tech, low-effort clock, and it’s cute enough for any preschooler to love.

A Bedtime Collection for Older Kids
For children over 5, consider putting together a “bedtime box” that includes fun items, such as a “sunrise” clock, like the Philips Wake-Up Light With Colored Sunrise Simulation, pajamas, a toothbrush, toothpaste, bubble bath, maybe even some bath toys (or shower items if your children are shower takers), and a bedtime book.
Just like a grown-up clock, this one has a snooze button. It will wake your child up to soothing built-in sounds or FM radio. The best part is that it doesn’t have the type of light that will keep your little reader awake, but it can still shine on that book she’s smuggled into bed. Built to last, this can take your little one from Kindergarten to college.

Temperature Control for Your Spouse
For adults, especially parents, sleep is sometimes elusive. Consider gifting a new set of high thread count percale or flannel sheets to help everyone get a good night’s sleep. Other great options for adults include an eye mask to help block out light, a natural light alarm clock (not just for kids!), or even an old-fashioned analog alarm to help eliminate light in the bedroom.
Another great option, especially if you’re on a budget, is a box of Sleepy Time tea and a fun new mug.
If your budget is a little bigger and you’re still arguing over the thermostat, maybe Bed Jet is the answer! It creates a custom heated or cooled bed (or side). No more stealing the covers!

Sleep for the Whole Family
Kids keeping you awake? Maybe you need some help with that. A copy of the Good Night, Sleep Tight book by Kim West (aka The Sleep Lady) might be a nice stocking stuffer.
Need a little more help? Try one of our eCourses starting at $29 for two months.
If you’ve already tried that and you need some extra, custom care, you can give the gift of sleep this year by finding a Certified Gentle Sleep Coach to help everyone catch some zzzz’s. Most of the coaches will work remotely, and many speak other languages. Sleep is a gift that will keep giving all year long!
